When it comes to cameras, I definitely think one side is better than the other! I’d much rather be on the other side of the camera taking the photos instead of sitting in front of it. However, I’m taking on the challenge of trying to capture my personality in self-portraits. This is a pretty good start. It’s definitely me. Those who know me will likely agree. I’m only showing one image (can’t bear to put up more than one of myself!), but it took about 30 tries to get this one that I liked. It’s so much easier to pose another than to pose myself. With my camera on a tripod and set on a 10 second timer, as soon as I would press the shutter button I would run and sit in my chair and talk to myself as I would a client: “OK, Teresa, sit up tall, chin forward and down, and smile naturally.” It didn’t always work, but I kept at it and learned a lot in the process. Now I’m trying to decide what my next self-portrait will be!
How about you? Ever tried to take a portrait of yourself? If so, do you have any pointers? It certainly isn’t as easy as it may sound.
